‘BLN-SpeakEasy is such a great programme and ultimately helped me find the courage to share my voice through poetry. From the accountability, to the feedback, to the community, to the fun, I loved everything about SpeakEasy.’
Arela SpeakEasy 2024
‘SpeakEasy is an amazing intensive writing course exploring important social themes. I transformed as a writer over the course of 12 weeks. SpeakEasy offers a safe place for you to explore your creativity. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow as a performer.’
Christina SpeakEasy 2024
The taster session offered excellent insights into creating poetry with heart — words with true emotional resonance as a poet, you feel compelled to come back for more and more amazing gems.’

Page-to-Stage
SpeakEasy creative writing and performance short courses & taster workshops for Black and Global Majority individuals are designed to guide you from conception-to-stage presentation by unlocking and unleashing your inner voice. SpeakEasy Po'JaM is our bi-monthly music and spoken word event at Theatre Deli London where writing workshop participants are invited to share their work at this open-mic night.
We encourage all writers — beginners and sages to apply for the writing courses & the open-mic night.
Page-to-Stage Workshops & Short Courses
The taster workshops are 2–3 hour themed writing sessions taking place online and in person, facilitated by SpeakEasy Course Coordinator Eljai Morais and guest facilitators. Short courses run for 6–12 weeks and are 2–3 hour weekly group workshops following the same format as the taster workshops, with the option for online 1:1 sessions and feedback. Through writing exercises, prompts, group sharing, home-tasks, voice work, self-direction and performance, facilitators guide participants through creating spoken word and theatrical stage-ready work.

SPEAKEASY PO’JAM CO’LAB
PO’JAM CO’LAB
Following our monthly Pop-up Bookshop, Co'LaB kicks off at 3pm in the Theatre Deli Cafe/Bar.
This creative drop-in is a great chance to network with fellow creatives and easily connect with the Speakeasy Po’JaM Team: Eljai Morais, Stephane Harivelo, Josh Olusanya & Olayinka Sobitan.
After the initial meet-n-greet & social in the Cafe/Bar, we'll move to a studio for a collaborative session where you can share projects, swap skills, sign up to perform for our bi-monthly open mic or just chill and chat. Po’JaM Co’LaB is your community hub. Feel free to bring your instruments, ideas, laptops, writing materials, links, flyers, business cards – or just simply bring yourself!
